the World-famous boys choir of the Spanish monastery of Montserrat, will be guest of the jubilee X Moscow Christmas festival of sacred music. The acclaimed ensemble will give a concert in the Svetlanov hall of Mihm on January 23.
every year in the Christmas festival, which is traditionally held within the walls of the Moscow international House of music, attended by well-known children’s choirs from different countries. The decoration programme of the anniversary show will be a performance by the boys of the ancient Benedictine monastery of Montserrat, leading its history since the thirteenth century. The team has long won international recognition and was awarded a number of prestigious international awards. At home he is rightly called the “cultural heritage of Catalonia”.
Choir school of Montserrat (Escolania de Montserrat) for more than 800 years keeps traditions of teaching choral singing. For centuries, pupils aged 9 to 14 years old live in the boarding school at the monastery and go home only once a week. Here they pass the high school course and receive a General music education. Performance schedule of the choir is painted in the months ahead: Japan, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Puerto Rico, Hungary, Sweden, Poland and everywhere “little angels of the ancient monastery” meet full houses and enthusiastic applause.
the band has recorded dozens of albums, has collaborated with leading orchestras of Spain (cadaqués orchestra, the Symphony orchestra of Barcelona and national orchestra of Catalonia, national chamber orchestra of Andorra), participated in Opera productions at the Gran teatre del Liceu in Barcelona performed together with the orchestra Le Concert des Nations and the Royal chapel of Catalonia under the leadership of Jordi Savall and the orchestra of the theatre.
