Bulgaria has decided to expel two Russian diplomats

Bulgaria’s foreign Ministry announced its intention to expel two Russian diplomats. The Russian Ambassador was handed the note, which declared persona non grata a diplomat of the Embassy and a member of the Trade mission.

“the Russian side reserves the right to take retaliatory measures”, — reported on the website of the Russian Embassy in Facebook.

however, the Embassy statement also indicated that the Bulgarian side has not presented any evidence that expelled from the country, diplomats have been incompatible with their status of operation.

Earlier, the Prosecutor’s office of Bulgaria reported that Russian diplomats suspected of espionage — allegedly they collected the data constituting a state secret. Prosecutors conducted pre-trial, but because of the diplomatic status of suspects, the case was closed.

In October, Bulgaria on similar charges sent the first Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Sofia. In response, Russia has recognized the undesirable person is a member of the Bulgarian Embassy.
