VfB Stuttgart professional Atakan Karazor was arrested in Ibiza, as the club confirmed. The “Bild” and several English and Spanish media had previously reported on the arrest.

“VfB midfielder Atakan Karazor has been arrested while on holiday in Ibiza. He denies any criminal act. VfB is in constant contact with its lawyers. Since this is an ongoing process, we ask for your understanding that VfB cannot comment further for the time being.”

In the past Bundesliga season, Karazor was a regular in Stuttgart and played 25 games. The midfielder, who was born in Essen, has made 43 appearances in the Bundesliga so far and has not scored a goal. Karazor grew up as a footballer in the youth team at VfL Bochum before moving to Stuttgart via Borussia Dortmund and Holstein Kiel, where he played his first games as a professional.
