Along with smartphones, loudspeakers and smart home devices, it is one of the most popular technology products on Prime Day: anyone who wants to buy a new tablet can hope for some good deals at Amazon’s online shopping event. But how do you recognize a good offer and how can you be sure that no bargain will slip through your fingers? Here are the top tips and some products to keep an eye on.
As far as performance is concerned, Apple products are often ahead of other tablets – but unfortunately the devices are also significantly more expensive. In general, if you want a lot of performance, you have to dig deeper into your pocket in most cases. Under certain circumstances, however, you can also find a good deal for iPads and other high-priced devices on Prime Day.
Prime Day: Surface tablets already reduced
Anyone who has been interested in a Microsoft tablet for a long time could grab it on Prime Day: Other Surface tablets are already significantly cheaper.
If you want to buy a Kindle on Prime Day, you have a good chance of finding a bargain. However, there are still no offers for Kindle and Co., but this may change in the next few days. For example, there is currently the Kindle* with an integrated front light for 79.99 euros and the waterproof Kindle Paperwhite* for 119.99 euros.
Tip: The Kids Edition* or the Kindle Paperwhite Kids* for currently 109.99 or 149.99 euros are recommended for children – unlike the tablet, no apps and games can distract from reading with the eBook reader.
However, if you want to treat your child to a tablet with access to apps, games and videos, you should definitely check out the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet*. The tablet is suitable for children from preschool age and costs 134.99 euros without a discount.
Amazon tablets could also be cheaper for adults on Prime Day. The Fire HD 10 * with an octa-core processor and twelve hours of battery life currently costs 149.99 euros – but could become even cheaper in the next few days.
The Huawei MediaPad T5* is currently one of the most popular tablets thanks to its outstanding battery life with video playback of up to 8.9 hours – it is currently available for around EUR 179.99 (21% discount). For 169.00 instead of 229.00 euros – the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8* is also currently more affordable – you shouldn’t expect miracles in terms of performance, but it is definitely an affordable tablet for the whole family. A slightly more expensive variant is the Samsung Galaxy S7 FE*, which currently also costs almost 150 euros less.
Inexpensive, 4 RAM memory, 2K FullView display and 128 GB storage space: The Huawei MatePad Wi-Fi 6* for 330.35 euros is also a worthwhile investment, even without a Prime discount.
Basically you should know: With the Prime Day you only get a bargain if you also take out a Prime membership with Amazon. Ultimately, the event also serves to convince more people of the advantages of the Prime subscription. For those who have not yet used the paid offer, there is the possibility to test Prime for 30 days free of charge. So if you sign up a few days before Prime Day, you can already research some good deals and discover a tablet or e-book reader that you like.
In order to get a feeling for whether a price is really unbeatable, you should also know what the desired tablet costs from other providers – price comparison sites such as Idealo.de are suitable for this. Because even if Amazon advertises with great offers, that doesn’t mean that other retailers don’t follow suit and undercut the price.
So be sure to take your time when buying and check out what is on offer. Even if lightning deals want to tempt you to make a quick purchase: Real bargain hunters don’t let themselves be put under pressure by countdowns and very limited quantities – otherwise you might strike at an outdated device that doesn’t meet your requirements and wishes.
Another tip: Do not rely solely on the discount information on Amazon! This often refers to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. In the case of technology in particular, however, prices fall quickly, so that supposedly insane discounts often sound more spectacular than they ultimately are.
One question remains: When will Prime Day 2022 actually take place? The official date is: 12-13. July 2022. So you can dust off the Amazon bargains on these two days.
