FC Bayern Munich’s dreams of a second “Finale dahoam”: The German football record champion wants to apply jointly with the city of Munich with the Allianz Arena to host the Champions League final in 2021. The Chairman of the Board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge announced in a communication.

Munich was so far three times venue of the final match. The first two finals were held in the Olympic stadium. In 1993, defeated Olympique Marseille, AC Milan with 1:0. In 1997 Borussia Dortmund won in the Olympic stadium with 3:1 against Juventus. Six years ago, Bayern lost for the first time in the Allianz Arena held the final in a penalty shoot-out against Chelsea.
“Despite the defeat and the great sporting disappointment in 2012 against Chelsea we still think very much in the ‘Finale dahoam’,” said Rummenigge. “We would be very happy if Uefa would give the opportunity to welcome the football world in Munich re welcome.”
