Handball Bundesliga team Füchse Berlin has won a European Cup for the third time in the club’s history. After winning the EHF Cup in 2015 and 2018, the people from the capital won the title in the European League on Sunday. In the final of the Final Four in Flensburg, coach Jaron Siewert’s team won 36:31 (16:12) against the Spanish representative BM Granollers. Third place had previously been secured by Frisch Auf Göppingen with a 33:29 (16:17) victory over Montpellier HB from France.

“It’s a big title for the club,” said the only 29-year-old Siewert: “It means a lot to me. I’m a young coach and I’m just at the beginning of my career.” Fabian Wiede, who was honored as the most valuable player of the final weekend, added: “We’re overjoyed to have brought the trophy back to Berlin after five years.”
