Entered into force the law on organic production

From January 1, in Russia comes into force the Federal law on organic products. It establishes a regulatory framework for the production, storage, transportation, labeling and sales of organic products.

Russia’s agriculture Ministry in late December estimated the market volume of organic products in Russia is about $ 180 million, seeing it as a significant potential.

the Federal law introduces a definition of “organic products”, “manufacturers of organic products” and “organic agriculture” and regulates its production, storage, transportation, labeling and sale. The new law provides for 11 requirements for organic production. In addition, producers do not use pesticides, hormones, agrochemicals, antibiotics, and growth stimulants. The provisions of the act do not apply to perfumes and cosmetics, medicines, seeds of forest plants. They are also not obliged to follow the hunters and fishermen, reports TASS.

the Company, which will offer customers organic products must obtain the appropriate certificate from an accredited Russian organization. To date, three of them — “Organic expert”, “rosselhozcenter” in the Voronezh region and Roskoshestvo.

According to experts, in the world there are three million organic farmers, the sector is 5 percent per year. The global organic market is about 100 billion dollars.

According to the Executive Director of the National organic Union (NOSE) Oleg Mironenko, three years ago, the retailers did not show interest in organics, and now the consumer wants to buy organic products, and in all major retail chains in Russia there are organic regiment.

last month ago in Minsk the 7th international conference on organic agriculture, Oleg Mironenko said that the state should help the producer and consumer in theircottages.

“So that consumer wants to buy, he must believe in the product that is buying, — said the expert. — Until we clean out the shelf and will not provide the conditions for organic producers and their sales of this organic matter, a civilized market will not.”

he Also said about the importance of grants of the manufacturer, which passes into the organic sector, creating the necessary infrastructure and the need for commercial order (not just state) for science from production.

Another problem, according to the head of the NOSE – in most countries of the EAEU (Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia) is exported mainly raw materials. The best raw materials are exported, the lower the quality remains for the domestic market, ruining the development processing. Only the domestic market allows us to develop processing, said Oleg Mironenko.
