In universities, it is similar to the one in politics and the economy: women significantly less frequently in management positions than men. A survey by the education provider WBS in the 37 largest universities in Germany.

Thus, the proportion of professors of average is around 24 percent. At some universities, the position plays the same, however, a greater role than others, the survey shows.

The University of Paderborn is according to the results, top: 97 of 260 professors are female, the ratio is 37 percent. The University of Koblenz-Landau follows up with a Professor of internal rate of 36 percent. 64 women hold a chair. The Humboldt-University in Berlin, with a female share of 32 per cent for third place.

The least number of women on chairs there are, however, at the Technical University of Central Hesse (10 per cent). The Karlsruhe Institute of technology, has 49 professors (13 percent), and at the Technical University of Dresden, only 14 percent of the professorships are occupied by women.

Even more rare as professors deans . You are a faculty or a Department and are elected for a certain period of time. On this higher level in the hierarchy of women at the 37 largest universities of the country are significantly less frequent. Not even every fifth office of the Dean will be guided, therefore, by a woman, the rate is 17 percent.

again, there are great differences: At the University of Hagen and the University of Koblenz-Landau prevails according to the study, equality. There are as many Deans as deans. The second highest proportion of the universities of Hamburg and Frankfurt (37.5 percent) were recorded.

At the universities in Siegen, Erlangen-Nürnberg, Bonn, Braunschweig, Kiel and Wuppertal as well as at the Karlsruhe Institute of technology and the technical University of Central Hessen are, however, currently, all the deans of men.

At ten of the 37 universities surveyed, a woman is at the top, and has held the highest office as a rector or President , however, without exception, at universities such as the TU in Dortmund and Braunschweig, and at the Humboldt-University in Berlin, of the University of Hagen and the universities of Paderborn and Koblenz-Landau.

What is striking when comparing the higher education forms: None of the examined universities of applied Sciences is a woman – here pent-up demand in terms of management level, nor equality.
