Tenth place in the table, just two wins from eight Premier League games and a considerable gap to the top of the table – Liverpool FC’s crisis is now taking on proportions hardly thought possible. The Reds are experiencing their worst start to the season in the English Premier League in a decade.

At FC Arsenal in London, the team of coach Jürgen Klopp lost on Sunday after an early deficit in an intensive duel with 2: 3 (1: 2). For Liverpool it was the third league game in a row without a win. Arsenal took the lead over Manchester City again thanks to their home win.

The Gunners took the lead in their own stadium after just one minute through Gabriel Martinelli. However, Liverpool were only briefly impressed and tried to counteract this. The Klopp team was evenly matched for long stretches in the Emirates Stadium and earned a deserved equalizer through Darwin Núñez (34th minute).

However, England international Bukayo Saka (45.5) put the hosts back ahead before the break. The Londoners ultimately scored with the first and last action of the first half. The narrow lead corresponded very well to the experienced balance of power.

And not a trace of satisfaction. The “Gunners” came out of the cabin at full throttle and developed high pressure. The third goal didn’t want to succeed at first. Martin Ödegaard missed the greatest chance (50th).

All the more surprising that Liverpool was able to equalize again. Roberto Firmino used a through pass from Diogo Jota to make it 2-2 (53′).

Almost everyone involved recovered after about an hour when the hard-fought game had to be interrupted for a few minutes.

Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus was left motionless after colliding with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson. The Brazilian was able to continue playing a short time later.

In the final quarter of an hour, the Londoners increased the tempo again, pushed for victory and a little later got their big chance with a penalty kick. Ex-Bayer Thiago fouled Gabriel Jesus in the penalty area and Saka completed his brace (76′) – Arsenal’s eighth win in their ninth Premier League match, increasing their lead over Liverpool to 14 points in the table . And improvement is hardly in sight for the Reds. Next Sunday, champions Manchester City are already waiting for the next heavyweight.
