Head of St. Petersburg laid flowers at the monument to Peter I in Kronstadt

the First Russian Emperor, the reformer and city planner. Today marks 348 years since the birth of Peter I. the most famous monument of the king in Petrovsky Park was visited by the head of Saint-Petersburg. On behalf of all the citizens of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov laid flowers to the monument, reports GTRK “Saint-Petersburg”.

the Bronze monument in Kronstadt became the third in Russia, established in honour of the great Emperor. Its author is a prominent architect Peter Karlovich Klodt. Officially, the sculpture was opened in 1841, in honor of the 132 anniversary of the victory in the battle of Poltava.
