Rostov begins verdict involved in the assault company of airborne troops in Chechnya. The defendants alleged members of the gang under the leadership of Shamil Basayev — Najmudin Dudiyeva and Ibrahim Donchev, informs a press-service of the southern military district court.
Recall that in late February 2000, some 200 armed members of the gang, including Dudieva and Doncheva, attacked the soldiers of the 6th company of one of military units of the airborne troops near the mountain village of Ulus-Kert of the Shatoi district. The paratroopers were only 90. During the attack the gang at the height of more than 770 metres 84 fighter squadron was killed and four were wounded.
For courage, informs GTRK “don-TR”, 22 Marines were awarded the title of Hero of Russia, 21 of them posthumously.
