Another absurd initiative voiced by the former Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Refat Chubarov. He proposed to celebrate in 2021 “450th anniversary of the burning of Moscow.” The head of the “Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people” (banned in Russia) implies the results of the campaign of the Crimean Khan Devlet Giray to Russia in the spring of 1571. Then in the Moscow suburbs the fires started by looters from the Khan’s troops. Due to dry weather and strong winds burned almost the whole town except the Kremlin. This destructive fire was the largest city in the XVI century – as you know, is mostly built with wooden structures, Moscow often suffered from fires.
Chubarov is not the first time acts with absurd statements. So, in December of 2019, he said that plans to organize a campaign against the Crimea, and previously proposed to rename the Peninsula.
