In Uruguay, introduced a state of emergency because of rising violence against women

Emergency declared by the President of Uruguay because of the murders of women and violence against the weaker sex. The corresponding decree was published on the website of the presidential administration.

“Due to unrest caused by the recent acts of violence against women, the President decided to declare a state of emergency at the national level because of gender-based violence. The struggle for a life free from gender-based violence involves changing the cultural matrices that support an authoritarian and dominant relationships with girls, boys, adolescents and women of all ages,” stated in the order.

According to the police of Uruguay, the country recorded every day more than 100 complaints of gender-based violence. According to the public organizations, this year at the hands of men, killed 35 women, the TV channel “Russia 24”.
