In Zlatoust poured paint over a monument to Nicholas II

In Zlatoust unknown poured paint over a monument to Emperor Nicholas II, located on the territory of the local diocese. The police opened a criminal case on vandalism (part 1 of article 214 of the criminal code), reported in Department of the Ministry of internal Affairs in Chelyabinsk region.

according to “Interfax”, the incident occurred on June 16.

According to some, the vandals are not just doused the monument with red paint, but also wrote on it “1903”. This is most likely a reference to a historical event that took place in Zlatoust. In 1903, there have been unrest among the workers of the defensive enterprises. Then the police were ordered to shoot rioters, the result 45 persons were lost, 87 have got wounds.

At city hall Chrysostom said that the monument was already cleaned from paint.

the Monument was built on donations of parishioners of churches of the city, was installed in front of Seraphim’s Cathedral in 2018. Its installation was timed to coincide with three anniversaries: the 100th anniversary of the death of the Royal family, the 150th anniversary of the birth of Nicholas II and the 100th anniversary of education of the Chelyabinsk and Zlatoustovsky diocese.
