There are massive allegations against Nico Schulz. As “Bild am Sonntag” reports, the football professional is suspected of having repeatedly used domestic violence against his former girlfriend, with whom the former international is said to have a child. The girlfriend was pregnant at the time.
In the criminal complaint filed against Schulz, he is accused of various cases from 2020.
Numerous WhatsApp chat histories are given as possible evidence. The investigation overshadowed BVB’s victory in the Bundesliga opener against Bayer Leverkusen (1-0) on Saturday evening.
“An investigation is pending. There was a house search and storage media were secured,” said the investigating Dortmund prosecutor Sonja Frodermann.
Borussia Dortmund also announced that it would investigate the allegations. “We were not aware of a public prosecutor’s investigation – concerning Nico Schulz’s private life – to this day,” the Bundesliga club told “Bild” last Saturday.
And further: “We take the reporting as an opportunity to seek direct discussion with the player about the serious allegations.”
The criminal complaint against Schulz, who played twelve times for the German national team, involves at least seven acts, including a kick in the stomach of his then pregnant girlfriend. His Instagram profile is currently unavailable, apparently it has been deleted or shut down.
Schulz switched to BVB in 2019. At the time, he was considered a great hope for filling the position of left-back.
In Dortmund, however, the former professional from Hertha BSC, Borussia Mönchengladbach and TSG Hoffenheim was never able to assert himself. BVB has wanted to part with Schulz for a long time. However, his contract is valid until the summer of 2024.
