London considered the assassination of General Soleimani in self-defense

Killed in Baghdad in an airstrike, the U.S. commander of the Iranian special forces “al-Quds” Qassem Soleimani “was a regional threat,” said the TV channel Sky News, the Minister of foreign Affairs of great Britain Dominique Raab. According to him, the US has a right to self-defence and London “was sympathetic to the situation, which turned out to Washington.”

“But now we want de-escalation,” added Raab.

According to the British Minister, he will meet with U.S. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo during his visit to Washington next week. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom takes measures to protect his subjects in the entire Middle East region. In particular, the ships of the Royal Navy would escort British ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

the UK foreign office has warned British nationals in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates about the need to remain vigilant after the elimination of Soleimani, reports “Interfax”. Warning about possible danger for the British also applies to countries such as Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Israel and Lebanon and Afghanistan and the occupied Palestinian territory.

Previously, the newspaper the New York Times reported, citing Pentagon sources that the US President Donald trump made the decision about the destruction of General Soleimani in spite of the latest intelligence and doubt in his administration. According to journalists, the head of the White house simply ignored the intelligence report, dated 30 Dec. It said that it was “an ordinary Monday in the middle East” and that nothing out of the ordinary trips Qassem Soleimani in the region was not.
