The death of a driver shocks the motorsport world. NASCAR star Bobby East (37) was brutally murdered. As the police of the Californian city of Westminster explained, the motorsport driver was stabbed at a gas station on Wednesday.

In a statement, police said: “The victim was found lying on the ground with a severe stab wound to the chest. The officials therefore tried to resuscitate East at the scene of the accident. However, he died on the way to the hospital.

According to their own statements, the police were looking for a 27-year-old homeless man who is said to have been responsible for the crime after East’s death. In the course of the investigation, Westminster police said, the suspect was killed in a shootout on Friday in Anaheim.

Motorist East won the 2004 USAC National Midget Series and the 2004, 2012 and 2013 SAC Silver Crown Championships. In 2004 he was named USAC Driver of the Year. From 2005 to 2008 he drove in NASCAR.
