NYT: trump ordered to destroy Soleimani without regard to intelligence

the US President Donald trump made the decision about the destruction of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in spite of the latest intelligence and doubt in his administration. It is reported by The New York Times, citing its sources in the Pentagon.

According to journalists, the head of the White house simply ignored the intelligence report of 30 December, the TV channel “Russia 24”. It said that it was “an ordinary Monday in the middle East” and that nothing out of the ordinary travel of the commander of the Iranian special forces, “al-Quds” Qassem Soleimani was not.

According to the newspaper, the option of liquidation Soleimani was the most extreme of the proposed President of the Trump by the military as a response to the wave of violence in Iraq. The Pentagon did not think he would choose this option: during the wars after September 11, 2001, they have often invited the presidents extreme scenarios, to make more attractive other, more reasonable means.

Initially, trump rejected the proposal to eliminate Soleimani, the newspaper, and then, barely restraining himself, watched the TV reports about the attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. By the evening of Thursday 2 January, the President of the United States is ripe for extreme measures. The Pentagon, according to the NYT, was dumbfounded.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased in Iraq result of American air strikes on 3 January Qassem Soleimani delivered to Iran. Currently, the farewell ceremony for the commander, whose funeral is scheduled for Monday, January 7.

Tehran has promised to give a decisive response to US actions. Trump, in turn, on the eve posted on his Twitter page the warning that in response to any potential attack by Iran after the liquidation of General Qasem Soleimani, the United States “very quickly and very strongly” strike dozens of Iranian facilities.
