the initiative for the erection of a monument Rzhev, where Soviet soldiers fought fierce battles with the invaders, was made by the veterans of the great Patriotic war.

According to the results of the international competition for the best architectural and artistic solution was won by the sculptor Andrei Korobtsov and architect Konstantin Fomin project with a 25-metre bronze figure of a Soviet soldier, erected on a 10-meter artificial mound.

in addition to the monument, the memorial complex also includes the pavilion, which presents the stories of those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Victory.
