President Vladimir Putin rejected the idea of an indefinite stay in power of the President. On Saturday in St. Petersburg, the President spoke with veterans of the great Patriotic war, during which one of the participants asked not to restrict the powers of the President “specific period”.
the words of the veteran to be “the people then decided to extend the work of the President or to release him, thanking for done.” He also expressed gratitude to Putin for strengthening of defensibility of the country, RIA Novosti reported.
In turn, Putin explained that the practice of lifelong stay in power is not justified. The situation of the mid 1980-ies, when Soviet leaders often succeeded each other because of death, Putin has called alarming.
“Heads of state one by one leaves power without ensuring that the necessary conditions of transformation of power. So thank you, but I think that it is better for such not to come back,” he said.
Putin also thanked the veteran for an evaluation of what was done.
