Putin congratulated believers on Christmas

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has congratulated believers on Christmas and wished them health and prosperity. He pointed to a huge role of the Russian Orthodox Church in shaping the moral foundations of society, preserving cultural heritage, education of youth, reports TASS.

Putin Himself celebrated in the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in St. Petersburg. It’s a tradition, the third time the President spends Christmas exactly where he was baptized. For more than half an hour, the President together with other believers participated in the night of the divine Liturgy, and then had a short conversation with the rector of the Cathedral by Mykola Ryndinym and handed him the gift icon.
