Putin warned of a possible global catastrophe

Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday held talks in Moscow. At the meeting, the leaders discussed current challenges to global security, RIA Novosti reported.

Later, Vladimir Putin said that he hoped the lack of large-scale military action in the middle East. Otherwise, said the Russian President, the conflict will be a disaster for the whole world.

“the Fact that there’s a war coming – and so we see the so-called low intensity. But this is fighting, people die. It is a fact. I’d love to avoid large — scale combat actions,” Putin said.

Putin is confident that the fighting will once again cause millions of refugees to seek out “hot spots” in Europe and other regions. These flows of people will cause great damage to the world economy and the energy sector.

“It will be a humanitarian disaster, the interfaith disaster, economic catastrophe,” — concluded the President.
