According to a media report, DFB Cup winner RB Leipzig is said to be negotiating with Max Eberl while looking for a sports director. This is reported by the TV station “Sky”. The talks between RB boss Oliver Mintzlaff and the former sports director of Borussia Mönchengladbach are well advanced, it said. RB declined to comment on the report.

After the separation from Markus Krösche, the Saxons have been looking for a sports director for over a year. Mintzlaff had always announced a 1A solution, but kept postponing the presentation.

Eberl voluntarily resigned his position as sports director in Gladbach in January for health reasons. However, his contract with Borussia has not been terminated and is on hold. Since then, the 48-year-old has withdrawn from the public eye.

According to Sky information, Eberl wants to continue his break until the end of the year. Mintzlaff is said to have assured him that he did not want to be a sports director in Leipzig, but rather a sports manager.
