Sobyanin: Muscovites better to vote electronically

Moscow Mayor said that city residents should be given the opportunity to vote electronically on the amendments to the Constitution. About this mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on the air of TV channel “Russia 24”.

the mayor is sure that online voting is a completely natural solution, especially in those circumstances when there is a risk of Contracting coronavirus. Sobyanin noted that many will not risk coming to the polls. “All on the house will not come,” — said the head of the city, drawing attention to the fact that the possibility of e-voting is the duty of the authorities of the capital in the current environment.

Sergei Sobyanin said that in voting on amendments to the Constitution will be complied with additional safety measures. In the first place, said the mayor will monitor the health of members of precinct election commissions, which will test for the presence COVID-19.

Voting will be provided with PPE including masks, gloves. In addition, said the mayor, polling stations will not be allowed to accumulate a large number of people simultaneously. The whole process will make it as safe as possible for citizens, said the mayor.

the vote on the amendments to the Constitution will take place on 1 July. Remotely cast their vote can the residents of two pilot regions — Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod region. In the capital of the online voting will be held from 25 to 30 June.
