The Iraqi Parliament called for the cessation of foreign military presence in the country

members of the Iraqi Parliament session on Sunday, January 5, voted for an instantaneous end to foreign military presence in the country, reports TASS.

Earlier in the meeting, acting Prime Minister of Iraq, Adel Abdel Mahdi and the Supreme commander of the country encouraged the MPs to take such a decision. “Ending the presence of foreign military was the best decision, despite internal and external difficulties” — quoted Prime Minister RIA Novosti.

He noted that there are two options: immediate final withdrawal of all foreign military, or gradual, with the preservation of their specific functions. Mahdi recommend the first option. In his opinion, this option is fundamentally better for Iraq.

“It would help to reformat relations with the US and other States to maintain friendly relations based on respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal Affairs”, — said the Iraqi Prime Minister.

Speaking about the US air strike, which killed the commander of the special forces, “al-Quds” the revolutionary guards Qassem Soleimani, the Deputy head of the Shiite militias, “al-Hashd al-SHAABI” Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and a few others, Mahdi indicated that it was done without coordination with the Iraqi authorities. According to him, the authorities were informed about the operation in just a few minutes before the strike. The government of Iraq may complain about the US actions in the UN Security Council.

meanwhile, the international anti-terrorist coalition led by the US has suspended the training of fighters of the Iraqi security forces because of attacks on military bases. Previously about the suspension of a training program for the Iraqi military had informed NATO.
