The leaders of Russia and Belarus will open a memorial Rzhev

Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko will take part today in the opening of the memorial to Soviet soldiers near Rzhev. The monument was created at the initiative of veterans of the great Patriotic war on public donations. It is a bronze sculpture with a height of 25 meters and weighing about 80 tons.

the Appearance of the monument helped to create photos of real participants of the Rzhev battle. In 1942 and 1943 the Red army lost in these places is nearly one million two hundred thousand men in killed, wounded and taken prisoner. The battles are the key to achieve a fundamental turning point in the war. In 2007, the Rzhev assigned honorary title “City of military glory”, reminds TV channel “Russia 24”.
