In Petrozavodsk opened a monument to mothers in honor of the 75th anniversary of the great Victory. The monument is a woman with children, in their hands they hold portraits of relatives who fought at the front. The story of the discovery of the monument was shown on the TV channel “Russia 1”.
the Monument was erected in the Park Victory Forest near the temple of St. Elijah the Prophet. The sculptor tried to convey the memory of military and labor valor of mothers. The initiator of the monument was the State Commission for preparation for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Karelia.
As informs GTRK “Karelia”, the sculpture was made people’s artist of Russia, academician of the Russian Academy of arts, member of Union of artists of Russia Salavat Shcherbakov. He is the author of more than 200 monuments in the capital of Russia in the regions and abroad. In Karelia, there are two works Shcherbakov. In Segezha in 2019, a monument to the nurses of the Karelian front in the regional center just last year there was a monumental composition the Defender of the Motherland.
