Former Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, who became the presidential envoy in the North Caucasian Federal district (NCFD), commented on his appointment.
“This proposal (the position of the Poprad – ed.) was very unexpected, but very comfortable, – Chaika told the correspondent of TASS. – The fact that the history of my family is directly connected with the Caucasus. I generic Kuban Cossack – my grandfather served in the convoy of the Governor of His Imperial Majesty in the Caucasus.”
According to Chaika, he returned to the Caucasus “in another role” to continue the work of his grandfather. This, in his opinion, there is “a certain historical justice”.
Earlier, on January 22 the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree on appointment of Seagulls envoy to the North Caucasus Federal district. Former attorney General, who has worked at his post for 13 years and 7 months, 20 January was dismissed in connection with transition to other work. The Federation Council approved this decision and approved the post of public Prosecutor Igor Krasnov.
