The Strasbourg court has not found the political second case of Khodorkovsky

the European court of human rights recognized the political second case against the ex-head of YUKOS Mikhail Khodorkovsky and former head of Menatep Bank Platon Lebedev.

however, were satisfied with their complaint on the violation of several articles of the European Convention on human rights. In particular, it was recognized that it violated their right to a fair trial.

Also, according to the ECHR, had been violated articles of the Convention on the punishment solely on the basis of the law and the right to respect for private life. Compensation to Khodorkovsky and Lebedev will not be paid, since the very recognition of the violations – is sufficient compensation for moral damage, reports TASS.

30 Dec 2010 the court found Khodorkovsky and Lebedev guilty under articles of the criminal code “Theft” and “Legalization of funds obtained by criminal means” and sentenced to 14 years in prison. Previously they have been sentenced to 9 years in prison for fraud and tax evasion. In the winter of 2013 he was pardoned. After his release, he lives abroad.
