Not a single corona case was reported to the RKI yesterday – and not a single death either.

This has never happened since the pandemic began.

Apparently, all 16 federal states are on a weekend registration strike.

Apparently, NRW is the last federal state to buckle:

The only country that had consistently reported corona case numbers to the RKI on weekends is now also stopping work.

The number of corona cases in intensive care units has been declining since the end of March.

But the decline is slowing.

Up to and including last week, the number was always a two-digit percentage in the red compared to the previous week.

As of this week, the decline is less than ten percent.

One of the reasons:

From a significantly reduced level, the number of corona cases that are transferred to intensive care units every day has recently increased again.

On five of the last six days, the number was higher than a week earlier.

Every day we hear the new Corona case numbers. But what do they mean, where are we in the pandemic and what is the trend? Olaf Gersemann explains and evaluates the current figures briefly and concisely – every morning anew.
