Russia’s Largest search engine does not exclude the possibility of entering the cellular market as a virtual mobile operator (MVNO). It is reported with reference to sources “Kommersant”.

According to the newspaper, to attract subscribers will have the comprehensive proposal in which the rate calls and Internet access combined with a subscription “Yandex.Plus”. In her recall, included full access to “Yandex.Music”, a free preview of a piece of video content on the “Kinopoisk”, as well as discounts and bonuses when using other services of “Yandex”.

Two sources in the market told the publication that the search engine is considering launching a virtual operator on the Tele2 network. Another source noted that apart from Tele2 will be provided for the switching of subscribers and the networks of other operators. However, in the “Yandex” plans to create an MVNO yet deny it.

the Russian IT-companies already have experience running virtual operators, although not very successful. In 2017, was launched VK Mobile, using the network of MegaFon. However, the project was closed less than a year. Currently, the most popular virtual operators in Russia are Yota (57% of the MVNO market according to “TMT Consulting”), “Rostelecom” (16%), “Tinkoff mobile” (9%), MGTS (6%) and “Bermoral” (5%).

Experts interviewed by “Kommersant” noted that the creation of a MVNO would be a logical step for Yandex. The company consistently builds its own ecosystem of services, whose objective is to earn a maximum of loyal audience, offering it the maximum various services. In the same way Mail.Ru Group, “Sberbank” and “Tinkoff”. And the last two their virtual mobile operators already have, and owning a Yota MegaFon indirectly is a major shareholder Mail.Ru Group.
