Lukashenko has introduced environmental taxes on oil transit

Belarus has imposed an environmental tax on oil transit through its territory. The corresponding decree was signed by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

According to the Decree, for organizations which carry out transportation of oil and oil products, established rate of the profit tax in the amount of 50 percent. The object of taxation is also recognized as the transit transportation through the territory of Belarus trunk pipelines.

At the end of December 2019, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko held two telephone conversations. They discussed supplies of Russian oil to Belarus and gas issues. On 3 January the concern “Belneftekhim” said that Russian oil supplies are not implemented. The next day, January 4, was resumed one-off contracts for the supply of oil to Belarusian refineries.
