Discovered the northernmost artillery battery during the great Patriotic war

the Scientific team of the expedition of the Northern fleet discovered the locations of the Northern artillery during the great Patriotic war.

by Studying images from space, scientists have identified two groups of objects in the area of the Taimyr Peninsula artillery battery of the white sea flotilla Northern fleet: room 264 on the Peninsula Mikhailov and room 265 on the Nansen island.

Both batteries were installed in 1943 to repel the attacks of Nazi submarines. On each were four 122-millimeter guns. The personnel were on duty on batteries until the very end of the war.

to Investigate the detected objects “Arctic front,” one of the units of the integrated expedition of the Northern fleet is planning in August. As expected, the participation in this work will take scientists from the Russian geographical society, writes RIA Novosti.
