In Bulgaria, the Russian diplomats suspected of spying

the Prosecutor’s office of Bulgaria began pre-trial proceedings against the two Russian diplomats suspected of espionage.

According to prosecutors, they gathered information constituting a state secret. As reported by TASS, we are talking about the first Secretary of the consular Department of the Russian Embassy in Sofia and the employee of the trade representation of the Russian Federation. Their names are not called. According to investigators, they conducted intelligence activities from 2017 and 2018, respectively.

However, the case against them was closed, as they have the status of diplomatic immunity.

however, the Russian Ambassador to Sofia Anatoliy Makarov said that officially, the Russian foreign Ministry has not received any information about the charges.

Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov also said the Kremlin has no information that Bulgarian prosecutors launched an investigation against Russian diplomats.

In October, the Sophia sent the first Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria, which was accused of espionage. Russia’s response was the mirror: an employee of the Bulgarian Embassy was declared an undesirable person.
